I had 2 dress shirts altered. I was pleased with the work. Then, I took 2 more expensive Cremieux shirts in to have the same alteration. They were done poorly, and I had to throw them away.

My experience with this business is 50% satisfied and 50% furious. I won't go back there again

I would only recommend Alterations by Joyce Marie if I needed a VERY simple alteration (such as hemming a dress). To start with the positive, their prices are fair and their turnaround times are good.

On the flip side, there were many aspects of working with the team at Alterations by Joyce Marie that would lead me to refer people away from this business. I came in wanting to tighten the top of a dress and talk about ideas on how to improve a cape that I will be wearing as a bridesmaid. I came in with an appointment and was put with a seamstress named Olga. She said she couldn't do anything to tighten the top of my dress and that it was too difficult, but offered to move the straps so they held the dress up better, which wasn't ideal but I was fine with. Then, when I tried the cape piece on to discuss ideas, she spent less than 2 minutes looking at it and told me there was absolutely nothing that could be done to get it looking the way I wanted it to. I tried to share a few of my ideas with her, but she abrasively turned each of them down and said nothing was possible. When she asked what I wanted to do about the cape (after offering 0 solutions and saying I needed to wear it as is) I said "I guess I'll take it somewhere else to see if anyone else has ideas" after which she said "fine then we're done" and stormed out of the room. I told the owner, Lisa, about how Olga treated me and she saw I was visibly upset, so we discussed what I was looking for and she asked me to come in for a second appointment with a different seamstress. She didn't promise they would have a solution about the cape, which I understood and I appreciated her at least trying to talk through it. While I was talking to Lisa in the lobby, after finally stopping myself from crying at the interaction with Olga, Olga came back out and started aggressively talking to me and berating me about the cape.

When I came back in a few days later, the new seamstress also said she couldn't do anything about the cape. I was more prepared for that response the second time around and her delivery was gentler, but I was still disappointed to hear they weren't willing to brainstorm ideas. I sent Lisa a text after leaving with a final idea, which she again turned down saying it wouldn't work and would be too difficult. By my final attempt to brainstorm an option, it seemed clear to me that Lisa & her entire staff were just telling me "no" so I would stop asking.

When I came back in for my second alteration appointment with the other seamstress, I could hear Olga in the next fitting room over telling another woman that her dress wasn't going to work and there was nothing she could do to alter it, so the woman would just have to order a different dress. My husband went in to get tuxedo pants hemmed, and Olga refused to advise on the length his pants should be and said he just needed to decide (he has never owned a tux so he was just looking for some help/advice from someone in the industry).

I finally decided to reach out to another alteration team in the area about my cape. I sent them pictures of what I was looking for and my ideas, and they were incredibly collaborative and said they could absolutely help me. It was a night and day difference from what I experienced with Lisa's team.

Long story short, while the owner of this shop was nice enough and apologetic for Olga's behavior, overall the staff is unwilling to be creative on solutions as evidence by multiple interactions. Again, I would only go to them if you need a very small and simple alteration done, as they are not open to customizing options. I personally will never return to Alterations by Joyce Marie.

I am utterly infatuated with this place. Being from New York, I'm accustomed to my suits fitting a certain way; and these tailors did not disappoint. Although, suits aren't really part of the culture out here, this shop is definitely going help me enjoy being the "suit guy" once again and also making my boys enjoy the debonair lifestyle along with me - kuddos

This team has the fastest turn-around time I have ever experienced with alterations! I had scheduled for a bridesmaid dress to be altered and asked last minute if they could also add a pair of jeans. They completed both in less than 24 hours and I was able to pick up the next day. I will be taking my alteration items to them only from now on. I also love that they have spacious dressing rooms for fittings and trying on your altered clothes. Thank you so much for the friendly and great service!
